Union: Russia’s cargo railcar output falls by 24% in Jan–Feb
MOSCOW, Mar 10 (PRIME) -- Russia’s production of cargo railcars shrank by 24.4% on the year to 7,669 units in January–February, the Union of Industries of Railway Equipment said in a statement on Friday.
Production of gondola wagons plunged by 53.7% to 2,061 and output of platforms plummeted by 51.6% to 1,752. Output of hopper wagons jumped by 90% to 2,217, of tank wagons soared by 56.5% to 1,125, of covered wagons quadrupled to 482, and of dumping wagons fell by 36% to 32.
At the same time, output of passenger wagons more than doubled to 77, the union said.
Production of diesel locomotives gained 38.9% to 75 and of electric locomotives also rose by 38.9% to 50.
